With the close of yesterday’s auction, we’ve now passed $1,000 on the amount raised on behalf of 826 National. (By the way, we’ve added a snazzy “running total” box to the top of the right-hand column, have you noticed?)
Big ups to Susan Clements for winning the auction for Ceramic Dragon + Erin Ellia Story, and pushing us into four figures. Ellia, as it happens, is one of the finalists from our v1 contest with Slate. We’ve published several stories by those finalists in v2: Hammer Bottle Opener + Alexander Chapman Story; Letters and Numbers Plate + Joe Lyons Story; and Love Pillow + David Abrams Story, still on auction.
Thanks all the writers and all the bidders who have gotten us this far. Next stop, $2,000?
Hooray for the Slate contest runners-up — I feel like we’ve made some important discoveries. Oh, and we have another Slate contest runner-up scheduled for later this week: Rodrigo Chavez.
And hooray for us — raising $1,000 for a good cause by selling thrift store detritus is amazing. If you ask me.
